Earlier in the term, we received a special letter from Professor Paul Barrett from the National History Museum asking if we would like to be part of a group of children that did research about dinosaurs. We all thought this was a great idea and so began our unit on Dinosaurs. This week we opened our Dinosaur Museum to the public.

Tunbridge Wells Arts Festival 2018 has proved to be our best Festival ever with the Sacred Heart School Choir being placed 1st in their class and further winners in Verse Speaking and Junior Versatility classes.

Y5 have had a fantastic week immersing themselves in the works of William Shakespeare. On Tuesday Y5 & 6 went to The Globe Theatre in London. There was a packed agenda for the day and it was a fabulous opportunity to find out first-hand about Shakespeare's life and times.

Playtime in the snow on Wednesday was such fun that we went into extra time! It was clearly the right sort of snow for building and families of snowmen, women and children soon proliferated. Clearing the site so we could open was less fun earlier in the morning, but we had willing support from some of the mums and dads for which we thank you!

Bishop Richard Moth, the Bishop of Arundel and Brighton, visited Sacred Heart School on Tuesday 16th January. The visit was to help celebrate mass and bless the opening of the new Nursery and Foundation Stage classrooms at the school.

On Saturday 13th January, Rafferty (Y6) competed at the English Karate Federations competition in Leicester. It is the biggest and hardest competition in the Karate world and Raff was up against 63 boys aged 10-11 and came an amazing 3rd, gaining himself a bronze medal! A very good achievement for his first time in this type of competition!

We were delighted to hear that all of our Mayfield applicants have been offered places for September 2018 and between them have been awarded Scholarships for Sport, Academic, Music, the Jubilee Scholarship and Headmistress’ award. This is a tremendous achievement; we are so proud of you, girls!

This was a beautiful end to our autumn term! Year 6 led the service, telling the story through tableaux, readings and songs, supported by contributions from each year group. A very peaceful end to a very busy term.

Foundation Stage set the bar high last week with ‘Whoops-a-Daisy- Angel’, but KS1 did not disappoint with their unique and charming production of ‘Hey Ewe!’ Quite a challenging show for such young children but they were brilliant!

The Choir has been busy this week singing at Weald Hall and Wadhurst Manor Nursing homes, as well as at the Rotary Club event in the village and entertaining parishioners at a small concert in the new Foundation Stage Building.

Last week we were treated to two performances of the Foundation Stage Nativity: Whoops-a-Daisy Angel. As always the littlest children brought their own very special brand of magic to the traditional story.
