This week, children in Year 3 and 4 went off to Bedgebury for some fun learning in the great outdoors! Within the spectacular forest grounds, the children got to experience 'hands-on' learning in a variety of fun forms.

We marvelled at Bedgebury's world famous trees (many of which were very tall and very old!) and we handled cones of various shapes and sizes. Amongst other things, we learnt how to count rings to estimate a tree's age, the different tree parts and their functions and how seeds are dispersed.

We finished the day by planting our own cornflower seeds (fingers crossed, they will germinate!) and learning about the requirements of these particular plants. Although we learnt that plants need water to live, we were very happy not to see the rain that day and to spend many happy hours learning in the sunshine!
