A big thank you to everybody who contributed to the Sacred Heart Number Day; children, parents and carers, teachers and TAs! Thank you for your kind donations and for the creative ways in which the children have been accessorising their uniform with numbers.
The theme this year was ‘The Value of Money’ and the children experienced this first hand when money was distributed ‘unfairly’ amongst them and their peers. Initially showing a sense of relief when they were lucky to have enough or even too much money to buy a cake from their teacher, they soon wanted to help their friends whose amount fell short of the cost of a cake. Where a few children needed a little bit of persuading to share their money, most of them were quick to share, with some even willing to forego their own cake to make sure their friend had one: Gospel values lived out there and then!
In addition, the children enjoyed a rich variety of other Maths tasks and games! Please, rest assured that, in the end, all children enjoyed a delicious little chocolate cake.
