Advent was the subject of the Year 5 assembly this week and the children presented facts about Advent around the world and activities that take place in other countries in the weeks before Christmas. Some of the children formed a human Advent Wreath and explained the reasons why certain colours are used for each candle and what these each represent. They explained the most important message about Christmas - although we all enjoy the parties and gifts and surprises, Advent is about waiting for the birth of Jesus. They particularly enjoyed sharing a Christmas song which they had learnt in Spanish which went down very well with the audience! Thank you to all the parents for helping the children learn their words so well, and also for the fantastic cakes for the cake sale at break time. Well done Year 5 for an informative and fun Assembly!
